- Available by the metre, as a sample (approx. 10cm × 10cm), or as a full roll (35 metres)
Working with Buckram
- Very stiff and springy — press flat before cutting to remove any curl from the roll
- Weight corners down while cutting to keep the fabric flat
- Often cut on the cross grain to allow slight give
- Do not add seam allowances — too stiff to include in seams
- Cut exactly to size and attach with machining or herringbone stitch
- Note: the sizing agent may wash out
Sewing Guide
- Thread: Polyester or cotton
- Machine needle: Size 100/16, large stitch
- Hand needle: Size 5–6 (note: very difficult to hand-sew)
- Pressing: Hot iron
- Care: Dry clean only
